  [S1] Newspaper Clipping, 14 Aug 1885, The Chronicle. Mr. Samuel C. McCune died at New London, Mo., on Thursday of last week, of dropsy of the heart, in the 61st year of his age. He was a brother of Messrs. E. J. and J. A. C McCune of this borough and left here in 1847. He leaves a widow and thee sons. Two of his sons were student of the Cumberland Valley State Normal School in 1874-5.
