Rankin, an old landmark of Centre county, died at noon today aged 74. He was the oldest member of Centre County Bar Association, and the father-in-law of General D. H. Hastings. He served as District Attorney of this county for three terms and principal of public schools for several years. He served in the war, and received the brevet rank of captain in the Fifty-sixth Regiment.
