Gregg Funeral Sunday Afternoon Funeral of Samuel Gregg who died on Thursday morning, will be held from his late residence at Centreville at 2.30 o'clock, advanced time, on Sunday afternoon. Interment will be at the cemetery of the Lower Brandywine Presbyterian Church, near Centreville, of which church he had been a member since 1866 Mr. Gregg was in his eighty-second year. He was the son of Peter W. and Mary A. Gregg and was born on April 8, 1842, on the old Gregg property near DuPont station, Montchanin, which had been in the possession of the family for seven generations. His ancestors came from Scotland in 1684 and bought a large tract of land in that neighborhood from William Penn, on part of which the duPont powder mills formerly stood. Mr. Gregg, who was the seventh bearing the name of Samuel, sold the homestead to the DuPont family about 36 years ago and purchased the old Chandler estate at Centreville, where he lived until the time of his death. He was educated at the Clarkson Taylor School, and was a member of the Fifth Delaware Regiment, which was stationed at Fort DuPont during the Civil War. His wife, who was Margaret A. Chandler, daughter of Dr. Joseph P. Chandler, died about nine year ago. The deceased is survived by three sons and three daughter. They are: Mrs. Henry Eves, Wilmington; Willard S. Gregg, who resides on the farm at Centreville; Mrs. Thomas Y. Wilson, Germantown; Irwin W. Gregg, Malvern, Pa.; Joseph C. Gregg, Brandywine Springs and Mrs. Henry Wilson, of this city. He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Frederick Darlington.
