  [S1] Newspaper Clipping, 29 May 1907, THh Sentinel (Carlisle, PA). Mrs. Annie Hall Colwell, widow of the late Captain James S. Colwell, who was a prominent member of the Carlisle bar and a distinguished officer of the Civil War, entered peacefully into rest this morning at 7 o'clock at her residence on North Hanover street extended. Although ill for some months past her condition was not without encouragement, and the announcement of her death came as a shock to her friends. A woman of great strength of character, hospitable, gracious, sympathetic and sincere, she held a prominent place in the social life of the community. As a Christianshe was devout and untiring in ever seeking and doing her Master's will. Mrs. Colwell was a daughter of the late Charles Hall and Ann Galbraith Hall, daughter of Major Galbraith, of the Revolution; a member of one of the prominent pioneer families of the Cumberland Valley. She is survived by two daughters and two sons - the Misses Anna M., and Mary H. Colwell, Commander John C. Colwell, U.S.N., and James S. Colwell, Esq., of Washington, D.C. Funeral services will be held at the residence, Saturday, June 1st at three o'clock p.m. Interment in the Old Graveyard, Carlisle.
